Search Discovery was launched in 2004 as an SEO company by Lee Blankenship. Lee worked out of his spare bedroom after winning our first ever client, Kudzu.com. But by the end of the year, Lee landed our first Fortune 500 client.
From 2006-2008, the company grew (and moved into real office space!), and we created our first technology and began adding employees and analytics clients. Big deals in 2009 and the genesis of what was to become Satellite propelled Search Discovery into more growth, and by 2011, we were awarded Most Influential Industry Contributors at the “WAA Awards for Excellence.”
We became a Google Analytics Certified Partner and Satellite was nominated by Google as the Technology of the Year. More accolades followed, more growth, new offices, and we became an Official Adobe Partner in 2013.
In 2014 we TRIPLED the amount of active clients and DOUBLED our revenue. By our tenth anniversary, we launched our greatest creation yet: Kegalytics, a groundbreaking advancement in the tracking of beer consumption! That Summer we received the Award of Excellence at the Google Analytics Summit, and we became the first organization to be certified in Google Tag Manager.
From 2014-17, we won many more awards, especially in the Atlanta region, where our President, Mike Gustafson was selected as Best in Show at the Celebrate ATL showcase, and we were thrilled to be able to give back to the Atlanta community, too, by sorting 22,735 pounds of donated goods for Atlantans in need at the Community Food Bank. We made the prestigious Inc. 5000 list in fall of 2017, and we became a Domo Certified Channel Partner.
Among our other accolades in 2017: AMA Atlanta AMY Award for Web & Interactive Marketing, and Atlanta Fastest Growing Company at the “Pacesetter Awards” presented by Atlanta Business Chronicle. 2018 was again a year of expansion for Search Discovery, as we opened an office in Cleveland and the entire team traveled to Lisbon, Portugal.
In 2019, for the third year in a row, we earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 list with 121% 3-year growth.
