The Search Alliance transition has been completed in the United States, but there still may be some pending refunds in your old Yahoo! account.  In a series of informative emails from Yahoo! to its customers about the transition, Yahoo! answered the question, “What Happens to Your Yahoo! Pre-Paid Balance?” According to the email, your pre-paid balance would be handled in one of two ways:

  • If you transitioned your Yahoo! Search Marketing account to adCenter through the transition tool and your balance is greater than $25, we will automatically transfer your balance to your adCenter account. You will receive details on the timing of this balance transfer after the ad serving transition is complete.”
  • If you transitioned your Yahoo! Search Marketing account to adCenter using the transition tool and your balance is $25 or less, or if you did not transition your account, your remaining balance will be refunded to you. You will receive details on the timing of this refund after the ad serving transition is complete.”

Both of these conditions rely on the use of the transition tool and may not factor in advertisers that already had an adCenter account.  If you did not use the adCenter transition tool, it may be worth taking a peek into your old Yahoo! account to see if there’s an existing balance.  Even if you did, it can’t hurt to make sure your balance has been accounted for.
