Five years after it’s launch, the Google TV Ads product is ending. On Thurs­day, August 30th, Google announced the close of Google TV Ads, citing the evolu­tion of tech­nol­ogy & media as the cause for moving away from TV and a renewed focus on digital video adver­tis­ing solu­tions.

Current TV campaigns are running unaf­fected, but as the product sunsets, Google TV service teams will tran­si­tion to other areas of Google. TV Ads will continue to be in effect until the end of the year, with reduced service levels begin­ning on October 1, 2012. This means there will no longer be repre­sen­ta­tives to assist with TV campaigns after Septem­ber 30th. The Google TV Ads product will continue to run until the end of the year as a self-service product.
