Five years after it’s launch, the Google TV Ads prod­uct is end­ing. On Thurs­day, August 30th, Google announced the close of Google TV Ads, cit­ing the evo­lu­tion of tech­nol­o­gy & media as the cause for mov­ing away from TV and a renewed focus on dig­i­tal video adver­tis­ing solu­tions.

Cur­rent TV cam­paigns are run­ning unaf­fect­ed, but as the prod­uct sun­sets, Google TV ser­vice teams will tran­si­tion to oth­er areas of Google. TV Ads will con­tin­ue to be in effect until the end of the year, with reduced ser­vice lev­els begin­ning on Octo­ber 1, 2012. This means there will no longer be rep­re­sen­ta­tives to assist with TV cam­paigns after Sep­tem­ber 30th. The Google TV Ads prod­uct will con­tin­ue to run until the end of the year as a self-ser­vice prod­uct.
