Ade Lawal-Solarin is a Senior Analyt­ics Manager at Search Discovery with more than 15 years of busi­ness expe­ri­ence in oper­a­tions, market­ing, and consult­ing with roles leading cross-func­tional tech­nol­ogy projects. He enjoys part­ner­ing with his clients to utilize market­ing analyt­ics tech­nol­ogy to help achieve their orga­ni­za­tional objec­tives or solve diffi­cult prob­lems.

Get to know Ade

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My wife makes a Niger­ian dish called fufu with peanut stew that is out of this world.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?

Sher­lock Holmes. I would love to have his amazing powers of deduc­tion.

 

 

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Shortly before we had kids, my wife and I trav­eled to Toronto for a long weekend. That was far and away the best place I have trav­eled to. We spent most of the time explor­ing the city together. Some­times it can be less about the place you are in and more about the people you spend the time with that makes the expe­ri­ence memo­rable.

What three traits define you?

Ideal­ist, dedi­cated, inquis­i­tive.

 

What is something that you recently learned?

Did you know that if you actu­ally stop trying to complete the other person’s sentences in your head and just listen, you might realize that the person you are listen­ing to might be going in a completely differ­ent direc­tion than where they started? If you really listen, you can hear not just the content of what they’re saying but also their moti­va­tions and hopes. Seeking to listen before being under­stood is a skill I aspire to master.

What is an important/cool trend you see in our industry today?

The growing focus on person­al­ized digital expe­ri­ences requires the collec­tion of a greater amount of personal data. However, a growing mistrust of corpo­ra­tions among customers and govern­ments chal­lenges the ability to collect this data. These conflict­ing trends present an excit­ing oppor­tu­nity in our indus­try.

 

 

What 3 words would you use to describe Search Discovery?

Dynamic, trail­blazer, attuned.

Our purpose is to help people thrive. Describe a transformation you’ve experienced in your time at SDI?

When I joined Search Discovery, I encoun­tered a radi­cally differ­ent envi­ron­ment from what I was used to in my previ­ous role a much larger orga­ni­za­tion. This excit­ing change led me on a journey of self-discovery, that chal­lenged my percep­tion of what I can achieve and has led to great personal growth and devel­op­ment.

 

What’s your favorite thing about working at Search Discovery?

It is thrilling that I get to work with some of the smartest people in the indus­try who are willing to lend a hand whether in problem solving or brain­storm­ing how to seize new oppor­tu­ni­ties.
